Our Next Big Dream: A New Home in Mott Haven

DREAM is embarking upon the most seminal moment in its 30-year history: tripling the number of youth it serves through an extended-day, extended-year whole child model that leverages the power of teamwork to make dreams real for all kids.

To achieve this goal, our Next Big DREAM is a state-of-the-art school in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx that will equip 1,300 PreK-12 DREAM scholars with the tools and opportunities to fulfill their vision of success.

About the Project

The heart and home of our ambition is 20 Bruckner Boulevard–an iconic, 120-year-old, 200,000 square foot former ice house built by Colonel Jacob Ruppert, the man who built the original Yankee Stadium. Abandoned for 30 years, the building will be brought to life by world-renowned architect David Adjaye–his first school and first project in the Bronx.

DREAM at 20 Bruckner will feature a:

  • Rooftop that will function as an outdoor classroom, play space, and garden
  • State-of-the-art gymnasium that meets the standards of a regulation court gym
  • Double-height, light-filled, cathedral-type library space
  • STEM Quad featuring specialty classrooms and laboratories
  • Double-height art wing with built-in spatial flexibility
